Ag Outlook Conference Nov. 26 at Pasco

PULLMAN, Wash. Market prospects for major commodities produced on Eastern Washington farms and ranches will be discussed at the 1996 Agricultural Outlook Conference Tuesday, Nov. 26, at the Red Lion Inn at Pasco.

Agricultural economists and other industry observers will offer their views on the likely market conditions for potatoes, grain, forages, livestock, grass seed, apples and the economy in general.

In addition, Ken Casavant, Washington State University agricultural economist, will talk about one of the hidden costs of NAFTA: the wear and tear on the state's roads; and Richard Dougherty, WSU extension food scientist, will talk about the future of the state's vegetable processing industry.

Allan Felsot, WSU environmental toxicologist, will explain the implications to farmers of the new pesticide act that replaces the Delany Clause.

David Paul, director, and David Green, program service branch chief of the regional services office of the Risk Management Agency, Spokane, will discuss crop revenue insurance.

The noon speaker will be Dina Dunayeva, a senior international consultant with Green River Community College. She will speak on how to do business in the former Soviet Union.

Cost is $50 for registrations received by Nov. 22; $65 afterwards and at the door. Registration forms are available at all WSU Cooperative Extension offices.

Contact Tom Schotzko at (509) 335-2854 for further information.

The conference is sponsored by WSU Cooperative Extension and the WSU agricultural economics department.
