Nethercutt to Speak at WSU Field Day

PULLMAN, Wash. -- Rep. George Nethercutt has accepted an invitation to speak at Washington State University's agronomy and conservation field day, Thursday, July 9.

Representatives of Sen. Pat Murray's and Sen. Slade Gorton's offices also will attend.

Twelve research programs will be featured in field tours at the Spillman Agronomy Farm and Palouse Conservation Field Station. They will include research on new varieties of grain legumes, barley and wheat; development of alternate crops, rotations and management technologies for conservation tillage systems.

The event will begin at 8 a.m. at the Spillman Farm with tours from 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. A hosted lunch will be served at noon in the A.G. Law Seed Building at the Palouse Conservation Field Station. Nethercutt will speak after lunch.  Afternoon tours will be from 1:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Those attending the events will be responsible for their own transportation between Spillman and the Conservation Station.

The Spillman Farm is two miles south of Pullman on Johnson Road. The Palouse Conservation Station is 1.5 miles north of Pullman on Highway 27, then half a mile west on Albion Road.  Attendance is free.  For more information call the WSU Crop and Soil Sciences Extension office at 509-335-2915.
