WSU Lind Field Day, June 9
PULLMAN, Wash. -- The annual field day of Washington State University's Lind Dryland Research Station is scheduled Thursday, June 9.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.; plot tours at 9 a.m.
Scientists with WSU and the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Research Service will discuss research progress on dryland cropping systems studies, spring wheat breeding, winter wheat breeding, club wheat breeding and control of Russian thistle in spring wheat.
R. James Cook, plant pathologist and interim dean of WSU's College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences, will make a special presentation on his 40 years of research on cereal root diseases.
A no-host lunch and program will begin at noon. The program will include an introduction of new WSU faculty members and brief reports from representatives of the Washington Association of Wheat Growers, Washington Wheat Commission, CAHNRS and elected officials.
The noon program will be followed by an ice cream social hosted by the research station. An optional field tour of irrigated cropping systems research will follow.
The field day is free and open to the public. Pesticide registration credits are available.
