Organic Farm Project Field Day Aug. 3

PULLMAN, Wash. -- Washington State University's Organic Farm Project will be featured at a field day Wednesday, Aug. 3.

The half-day farm tour begins at 9 a.m. at the organic farm inside Tukey Horticultural Orchard located on Airport Road on the east side of the Pullman campus. The event is free and open to the public.

WSU's College of Agricultural, Human, and Natural Resource Sciences established the Organic Farm Project in 2004 primarily as an organic teaching farm. Each year, the three-acre farm plays host to an intensive 12-week course for college credit or continuing education credit. The farm was certified organic in fall 2004 and is committed to using sustainable growing methods.

In order to cover expenses, produce grown on the farm is sold through Community Support Agriculture members, a local farmers' market and on-campus dining services. The Pullman Community Food Bank also receives some of the summer produce.
